James Howe

Cryptography Researcher PQShield

I am a cryptography researcher at the development team of PQShield Ltd. Previously I was a research associate in the cryptography group at the University of Bristol and a research fellow at the Centre for Secure Information Technologies (CSIT) at Queen’s University Belfast, UK. I received my Master’s degree at Royal Holloway, University of London, in Mathematics of Cryptography and Communications. I received my PhD at CSIT in hardware designs for lattice-based cryptography, which was co-funded by Thales UK, Research and Technology, and also in collaboration with the European Union Horizon 2020 SAFEcrypto project. My current research focus is on secure and practical post-quantum cryptographic architectures, with an emphasis on lattice-based cryptography. My other research interests include public-key cryptography, information theory, and cryptanalysis.
